Welcome to the Centre for Local Government and Development (CLGD), a dedicated research, innovation, capacity building, and knowledge management facility in the fields of local government, sustainable development, grassroots politics and democracy, human security, and so on. Since 2024, we have been on a quest to empower communities, scholars, professionals, and local government officials through new ideas, solutions, research, and meaningful discourse both at home and abroad. Local government research is an important tool for increasing capacity and outcomes. Research produces new knowledge that can be used to improve service delivery, question or reflect fresh light on existing attitudes, values, and behaviours, or establish new perspectives and innovation. This centre will encourage research collaborations between academics and local governments by promising to expand scholarly understanding of local public administration and to better the lives of those who live and work in local communities.
